The NPC achieved 44 percentage shares of the country’s non oil export products and also 55% of industrial export products as those illustrate the pivotal rule of petrochemical industry in the economy of the country. The cores of NPC strategic plan (by observing the NPC’s government-oriented role); - Development toward reaching the goals defined in the 20-year development plan of the country - Boosting the percentage shares of the country’s non oil export products - Constant development of petrochemical industry by protection and completion of chain high value products with concentration on developing small and medium petrochemical industries. - Utilizing optimization of local facilities - Utilizing the relative rivalry advantages of low- developed regions, economic and free trade zones (Chahbahar, Kish, Gheshm, Lavan…) - Provision necessary conditions for attracting foreign investment Quantity goals of the 4th five-year development plan (2005-2010); Description | 2005 | 2006 | 2007 | 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | Operative capacity (mn/t) | 20.4 | 29.2 | 38 | 43.9 | 49.5 | 51.1 | Production (mn/t) | 15.8 | 18 | 23.9 | 30 | 34.4 | 40.2 | Sales (mn/tons) | 10.1 | 12.1 | 16 | 19.8 | 22 | 28.4 | Export sales ($bn) | 2.3 | 3.3 | 6 | 7.8 | 9.3 | 11.6 | Local sales (bn Iranian Rial) | 1605 | 26520 | 32308 | 40056 | 46788 | 67692 | Total investment($bn) | 3.18 | 3.09 | 2.96 | 2.62 | 2.5 | 2.1 |

Financial sources allocated to petrochemical projects on the basis of their priorities which have been approved by the NPC board directors and the Petroleum Minister. There are now 69 priority petrochemical projects with the annual capacity of 66.5 million tons. - Production of 10 million tons per year of ethane - Production of 183 million cubic meter per day of natural gas - Production of 315,000 barrels per day of liquid gas - Production of 400,000 barrels per day of liquid gas The NPC strategic plan is the core vision that all efforts should be done toward in the direction of reaching the following goals; Fundamental targets, values and steering the company in facing upcoming challenges by applying right decisions and policies. Qualitative objectives and policies - Establishment giant petrochemical facilities on the southern borderline to easily accessing international markets - Utilization of optimized gas sources instead of oil as feedstock for petrochemical complexes - Increasing the share of nongovernmental investment in petrochemical industry - Applying and development new technologies in petrochemical industry - Establishment joint venture petrochemical facilities and service companies with right foreign companies - Increasing the utilization of ethane and natural gas in petrochemical facilities - Implementation new petrochemical complexes using methane and ethane as feedstock near the South Pars Special Economic Energy Zone to reduce expenses of transportation |
